Friday's Favorite Five

The last Friday of the month - already!   This has been a month of sickness and breakdowns, spring-like weather and some of the deepest cold we ever get.

I can't say I will be sorry to see January slip away.

The lovely Susanne hosts a group of ladies each week who stop to enumerate five things that have given joy, tickled our fancy, blessed us, or just generally given us pleasure over the past seven days.

This week, the following things have blessed me......

ONE

I totally forget how I stumbled on this website this week, but if you like photography, and specifically candid photographs of people during a happy occassion, then  Moment Junkie is totally worth checking out!

The daily posts are wedding photographs - sent in by photographers from around the world (mostly the US) - that capture unique moments.

This is one of my favorites, so far.

TWO

L'OREAL Nutri-Sleek Anti-Frizz Serum

I have curly hair.  The older I get, the curlier my hair gets.

Curly = Dry.

Dry = Frizzy.

For the last several years I've been frustrated with my 'curls'.  Sure, it looked OK the day I washed my hair, but the next day it would be nothing but frizz.  I tried several products with little results until I tried this one.

Basically an oil that I apply to my wet hair, it is a miracle!  My hair remains curly and UNfrizzy for 2 or 3 days after washing!

Hallelujah!

THREE

Dan and Krystal  -  Dan understands the potential for lonliness when living out here, all alone.  He lived alone here for 5 months while Jim and I lived in Louisianna.  He also lived here by himself while we took a 30 day road trip in 2006 when he was just 17.  His experience has made him sensitive to the fact that sometimes it's hard on me to live alone - especially when I have no vehicle (as was the case last week).

So, with this sensitivity in mind, Dan and Krystal came out to spend the evening with me twice this past week.

Thanks, guys!

FOUR

The Waltons...

Jim and I have been watching this series for the past couple months - not all the time, we change it up once in awhile with something else, but it has been the Waltons for our most consistent TV fare lately.

This is probably my all-time favorite TV series of all time - and sharing it with my man makes it even better.

FIVE

A well stocked First Aid kit and the training/practice to know how to use much of what is in it.

Especially the Steri-Strips.

(Sorry for the slightly unfocused photo - hard to do a good job when you only have one hand)

For the story behind this Favorite, go to this post.  (If you haven't already read it)

Of course, my very favorite thing this week, is that 'the worst' did not happen.

(I realized yesterday that every other time I've tried to loosen a window, I've had my hand palm toward the window, and hit the glass with the 'heel' of my hand.  I feel sick when I think where the cut would likely be had I followed my 'usual' behavior)

God is so good to protect me from myself!

I have not seen the Waltons in years! I do remember liking that show though.

Good for you for taking a first aid course! I'm sure it will be helpful in many ways.

Oh, you remind me of my friend Glenda. She is a big fan of The Waltons. Somehow she has been "friended" on Facebook by the girl that played Erin. I can't think of her real name right now. She (Glenda) owns all of the seasons of the Waltons on DVD, I believe.

So nice of Dan and Krystal to come out and keep you company! You have such good kids!

What sweet kids to keep you company! I can't imagine being out in the country and not having a vehicle.

Yikes Karyn! That cut incident is pretty scary. So glad you handled it well and that it did not turn out worse. Praise God!

Loved the Waltons and haven't seen it since I was a kid. I should see if the library has it.

Oh, My! I'm glad your injury wasn't more serious, and I hope that you are already feeling better. Your family is singlehandedly keeping your ER in business!

What a sweet son you have. :)

A good anti-frizz serum, especially in the winter (static) months is always a fave for me - and so are the Waltons! I've recently turned my boys on to the series. They pretend to protest, but I can tell they really do like it.

I hope your week ahead is blessed, and without any injuries.

Just a comment on the Adam Raccoon books. Have you tried Castle Rock Books in Bedford, Nova Scotia? They sometimes have them.
